Five budget friendly DIY projects that will give your bedroom an instant facelift

Updated: Feb 2, 2020

Looking to spice up your bedroom but on a tight budget? Not a fan of the DIY project? Not to worry, make it a MODIFY project! These five DIY home improvement projects are fast and affordable!

1. Update outlets near your bed

Most of us charge our gadgets on the nightstand by our bed. There is nothing more frustrating than realizing your USB power adapter has slipped from the outlet and your phone was not charging all night. Skip the power adapter and install USB outlets so you can plug your phone directly into the outlet. For less than $20 you can get two USB outlets, one for each side of the bed.

2. Spray paint ugly vent covers

For the cost of a can of spray paint, you can make your vent covers look like new. Flat black is a great option for rusty, dated vent covers. A few soft touches of black anchors your space by creating texture and contrast.

3. Add a statement wall

Give your bedroom a modern update with a DIY board and batten accent wall. This cheap and easy update will give your bedroom instant texture and style. Sound like more than you can handle? Find a handyman contractor near you.

4. Update mirrored closet doors

Do you hate the cheap looking mirrored closet doors (circa 1980) in your bedroom? For less than $30 you can give them a chic update. All you need is a sheet of plywood and a modern door pull. Find cheap materials and support a good cause at your local Habitat for Humanity.

5. Repair walls and add a fresh coat of paint

It may seem obvious, but fresh paint is an extremely budget friendly way to add instant style to your bedroom. Make sure to prep the wall before painting. Fill in any holes, patch cracks with compound, sand and add texture.
